From Leader to Leader

It’s time for a special edition of the Youth Leader Online. In August of this next year, we will be casting a dream toward the future of youth ministry. We believe that this is a God-directed endeavor that catalyzes many other youth ministry dreams from leaders like you.

The foundation of this dream began over ten years ago. The preparation for launching this dream began two years ago. It is now time to go deep and wide with this vision.

The platform for this launch is Indy07: Experience The Dream. This is the AG National Youth Convention in conjunction with the General Council meetings in Indianapolis, IN this August 7-11,2007. This is going be the launch of our greatest evangelistic movement in a generation. It is loaded with experience for virtually every youth in our movement. But it is much more than a gathering; it is the cumulative beginning of DREAMING twenty fifteen. (For more information about DREAMING twenty fifteen read the DREAMING twenty fifteen Initial Statement & Strategy document.)

Included in this special edition of YLO are links to both a four minute vision video and a special podcast with myself, Rick Lorimer, Rod Whitlock, Darin Poe, Brad Keller and Matt Blankenship about Indy07 and DREAMING twenty fifteen. Take a few minutes and listen to the podcast. We believe you will capture the essence of this strategic moment and vision.

Among the many catalysts of Indy07, there will a mass equipping and commissioning of students to reach the secondary school campuses of this nation. Can you see it - thousands of students from across the nation accompanied by their respective District Youth Director, Youth Alive missionary, and youth leader - filling the floor of the RCA Dome? Can you see flags from every state and students dressed in school colors – jerseys, hats, uniforms, etc.? Can you see these youth being commissioned as they are empowered with a new resource – the FIRE BIBLE Student Edition, a Pentecostal study Bible for youth and youth leaders? Can you see them filled with a sense of responsibility and anointing to be a Pentecostal generation of God’s destiny? Lead your students to be equipped and commissioned (and some re-commissioned) in mass on the floor of the RCA Dome and before the eyes of AG world via a televised broadcast on the Inspirational Network.

Indy07: Experience The Dream includes the National Youth Convention evening services, Fine Arts Festival, Campus Tour, AIM Outreach, Bible Challenge, Eurasia experience, incredible exhibits and more. Our worship band is Planetshakers from Melbourne, Australia. Other guests include Kutless, Superchick, Group 1 Crew, Reggie Dabbs, Russell Evans, Rich Wilkerson and Jeanne Mayo. We believe that it all leads to a historic mobilization of this youth generation in the power of the Holy Spirit. Visit www.Indy07.com for more details on all of these experiences.

It is happening in the Indiana Convention Center and the RCA Dome, home of the Super Bowl Champions, the Indianapolis Colts. Yes, our youth services will be in the RCA Dome! We are preparing for 20,000 youth and youth leaders at Indy07: Experience The Dream. We are inviting you to be with others and us in Indianapolis this summer. It is going be “convention unusual.”

We have prepared a kit to help you communicate and mobilize this opportunity for you and your church. You can download it from www.Indy07.com. On behalf of the NYM Team, District Youth Directors and Youth Alive missionaries, we hope to see you at Indy07 as we launch a collaborative future for youth ministry in our fellowship.

Blessings,
Jay Mooney
National Youth Director

National Youth Convention Indy07 equips campus missionaries

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

FEBRUARY 16, 2007 — Thousands of students around the country, representing hundreds of schools, will unite August 7-11, in Indianapolis, Ind. for the Indy07-Experience The Dream: Fine Arts Festival, Campus Tour, AIM Outreach and National Youth Convention.

The convention will take place in the Indiana Convention Center and RCA Dome. Speakers for the event include Jeanne Mayo, Reggie Dabbs and Rich Wilkerson. The event will also feature special music performances by Planetshakers, Group 1 Crew, Kutless and Superchick.

The focus of the ’07 convention is for students and leaders to experience and launch a vision called Dreaming2015. “Indy07 is our launching pad for the greatest student evangelism thrust of our lifetime. The vision is to reach one million American teenagers and have them grafted into a local church by the end of 2015,” Jay Mooney, National Youth Director, said.
As well as the Fine Arts events and workshops there will be a Campus Tour that features special afternoon events, evening services and a workshop track, designed to help to inspire and equip students to develop a strategic plan to reach their campuses. The Campus Tour will culminate on Friday with a Campus Missionary Commissioning Service in the RCA Dome and World/US Missionary Commissioning service in the Conseco Field House being linked via satellite.

“Indy07 grants our fellowship a unique opportunity to assemble at one location and unite with one cause, the mass equipping and commissioning of students committed to reach the lost on their campuses,” Mooney said.
Students who are commissioned as Youth Alive campus missionaries will be given a copy of the new FIRE BIBLE Student Edition, courtesy of generous donations from friends of Assemblies of God Bible Alliance and Light For The Lost. This resource will help students better understand the Christian faith and what it means to be a Spirit-filled disciple of Jesus Christ.

According to Mooney, teenagers must take Christ to their peers in the classroom. “The campus becomes the most crucial battleground for our future success. It's here and here alone that we should choose to leave our legacy.”

Fall 2007 release of FIRE BIBLE set to ignite student passion for missions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

FEBRUARY 13, 2007—This fall, the FIRE BIBLE:Student Edition (FBSE), the only in-depth student study Bible from a Pentecostal perspective, will be released. The project, which began in 2005, is a collaborative effort between Assemblies of God national youth ministries, LIFE publishers and the Assemblies of God Bible Alliance.

National Youth Director, Jay Mooney says that the catalyst for the FIRE BIBLE:Student Edition project was two-fold:
1. An alarming percentage of biblical illiteracy in the Church.
2. A deep conviction that a Pentecostal study Bible is a cornerstone answer to seizing the future of the Church in fulfilling the Great Commission.

The FBSE is meant to help students better understand the Christian faith and what it means to be a Spirit-filled disciple of Jesus Christ. This Bible is specially designed to help train students in five lifestyle habits; PRAY, LIVE, TELL, SERVE and GIVE. “These concepts are connected with practical how-to's which will give students the confidence they need to talk about Jesus with their friends” Carey Huffman, FIRE BIBLE:Student Edition Project Coordinator elaborates. “Its depth and relevance, however, will benefit all Christians. It is truly designed to be a Bible for life. This tool will help students develop an intentional lifestyle to impact others for Christ at school, work, home and anywhere.”

The FIRE BIBLE:Student Edition contains many features such as, an easy to use cross-reference section, a detailed overview of each book, over 80 key issue articles and helpful charts, illustrations, and maps.

It also contains thorough study notes, a commentary from a Pentecostal perspective and has 20 major themes tracked throughout scripture.

The FBSE will be available for retail purchase at an estimated cost of $29.95 through Gospel Publishing House when it is released this fall.

Because of generous donations of friends from Assemblies of God Bible Alliance and Light For The Lost, this resource will be available for a limited time at no cost to students who register as Youth Alive campus missionaries. These students are the on-campus pastors and evangelists to “America’s most strategic mission field – the secondary school campuses.” To find out more about Youth Alive, becoming a campus missionary and Campus Missions resources, visit yausa.com.
